Rolex Oyster Perpetual Datejust

Introduced to the market in 1945, the Datejust model represents the classic elegance and precision in timekeeping that has kept Rolex watches on the wrists of world leaders, business executives and professional athletes for decades.

One of the most recognizable Rolex models, the Datejust holds its own when compared to professional wristwatch models. The 18 karat yellow gold Datejust in the photo above features a fluted bezel, jubilee bracelet and a black dial with diamond hour markers. Fitted with a 3135 movement manufactured by Rolex, this superlative chronometer is also available with an oyster bracelet.

Rolex's signature cyclops lens, used to magnify the date display at the 3 o'clock position of the dial, was introduced to this model in 1953. In 1956, Rolex added another innovation - they made the date function instantaneous.

The current Datejust model comes in several sizes (31mm, 36mm, 41mm) and color configurations, with the 41mm version introduced to compete with the larger professional models that currently dominate the market. However, the 36mm configuration shown above respects the aesthetic of the original Datejust. With a suggested retail price of 29,600 Swiss Francs (approximately $30,984 US), this yellow gold Datejust is priced just below the yellow gold Submariner Date (ref 116618LN) and yellow gold Daytona (ref 116528) models.

While this watch was not designed to weather extreme conditions, it was designed for gentlemen - and women - of distinction. This distinguished timepiece exudes power and elegance effortlessly and will certainly retain its value for decades to come.
